01 · The brief
Product brief and exploration
Current products share a very similar design language. They are designed to be quiet and blend in seamlessly in any environment.
The designs are very ergonomically thought out, and technology has allowed the audio quality of each of these devices to be extremely high.
The general trend is to create audio devices that match the aesthetic of their compatible devices; Apple’s AirPods, for example, come in one colour, intended to match the aesthetic of all their products.
However, the music, its emotions, and its ability to transport users to other worlds is not emulated through its design. There is clearly a lack of intent from the largest brands and manufacturers to create earbuds that stand out or speak to the user’s character.
